MEDICAL MALPRACTICEBIRTH INJURY – CEREBRAL PALSY $1,300,000.00 Failure of doctors to perform a timely C-Section resulting in baby suffering a hypoxic event (lack of oxygen to the brain), a brain bleed, and cerebral palsy. Baby will require lifetime medical and special care needs for his cerebral palsy. NEGLIGENT STERILIZATION – DOWN SYNDROME $ 1,750,000.00 Tubal ligation (sterilization procedure) performed on patient by defendant doctor was improperly performed. The negligence of the OB/GYN resulted in Plaintiff’s pregnancy and the birth of a child with Down Syndrome. Mrs. A had to undergo an unnecessary pregnancy, labor and delivery of her child. Mrs. A’s child has lifetime medical and special needs resulting from his Down Syndrome. PSYCHIATRIC NEGLIGENCE / FAILURE TO MONITOR PATIENTS $ 895,000.00 Plaintiff was a resident of a psychiatric health facility. Nurses failed to monitor Plaintiff. Plaintiff overdosed and sustained permanent brain injury. BIRTH INJURY – CEREBRAL PALSY $1,350,000.00 Plaintiff presented to hospital for the labor and delivery of her baby. The nurses of defendant hospital failed to notify the OB/GYN that the fetal monitor strips indicated fetal distress. The negligent delay in performing a C-Section caused the child to have asphyxia, mental retardation, and cerebral palsy. NEGLIGENT SURGERY – GASTRIC BY-PASS $ 635,000.00 Surgeon was negligent in performing a gastric by-pass surgery. The defendant nurses were negligent in not monitoring Plaintiff’s medications and failure to timely notice and address that Plaintiff was going into hypoglycemic shock. PARAMEDIC NEGLIGENCE – WRONGFUL DEATH $ 250,000.00 Paramedics failed to timely transfer a patient to an emergency hospital resulting in her death. NURSE NEGLIGENCE – BRAIN INJURY $1, 875,000.00 Plaintiff had a pulmonary and breathing problem for which he required a suction machine be immediately available. The nurse failed to have the machine available when baby had difficulty breathing. The child suffered a loss of oxygen to the brain causing permanent neurological injury. ELDER ABUSE – NURSING HOME $375,000.00 Patient died as a result of aspiration pneumonia. Patient’s death was due to the gross negligence of nurses and skilled nursing facility in failing to address her feeding needs and for failure to timely and properly intervene when she choked on her food. FAILURE TO DIAGNOSE – WRONGFUL DEATH $250,000.00 Patient’s lab results came back abnormal indicating that the medications (Coumadin and Heparin) were dangerously thinning her blood. Her doctor failed to read the abnormal results and said negligence was the cause of her death, resulting from a brain bleed. BIRTH INJURY $1,161,500.00 Negligence in determining baby’s size prior to delivery and negligent delivery of baby causing permanent injury to arm and hand. Baby was born with a limp right arm (Erb’s Palsey). FAILURE TO DIAGNOSE CANCER / WRONGFUL DEATH $250,000.00 Radiologists were negligent in interpreting plaintiff’s imaging studies for a period of years prior to her diagnosis of lung cancer, resulting in her death by metastatic lung cancer. The Plaintiffs are her adult children. FAILURE TO DIAGNOSE $750,000.00 During a period of 5 years, the defendant primary care physician failed to provide adequate care and treatment and failed to address patient’s hypertension (high blood pressure) and abnormal kidney function. Eventually, patient was diagnosed with end stage renal disease, requiring dialysis and will possibly need a kidney transplant. BIRTH INJURY – WRONGFUL LIFE $2,375,000.00 Radiologist was negligent in failing to identify a neural tube defect in the pre-natal ultra-sound. Baby was born with the genetic defect of Spina Bifida. If the diagnosis had been made, prior to the birth, the pregnancy would have been terminated. Child will require medical care needs for the rest of his life. NEGLIGENT SURGERY $575,000.00 Surgeon was negligent in performing the gallbladder surgery by lacerating patient’s vein and artery and failing to notice said injury during the surgery. Patient required an exploratory laparotomy and repair and multiple subsequent surgeries to attempt re-vascularization and to remove blood clots. |
